How to Replace Printer Ink Cartridges on Your Printer

Most ink-jet printers on the market today have on-screen alerts that appear when the ink level of the cartridge is low. After you find out that your printer ink cartridges is running out of ink you need to buy a printer ink cartridge made specifically for your printer. So, in this article, I will tell you about how to replace printer ink cartridges on your printer. Although printer ink cartridges installation varies between brands and models, these steps apply to most major brands.


  1. Make sure the printer’s power is on and open the printer’s front cover.
  1. The cartridge carrier for the ink cartridges should slide out from under the printer's cover and toward the center. Wait for the cartridge carrier to stop.
  1. Remove the empty old cartridge by pressing in on the release tab and then lifting the tank up and out of its slot. If you have an Epson printer, raise the cartridge holder lid and the cartridge will arise for removal.
  1. Remove the old printer ink cartridge and consider refilling it.
  1. Carefully pick the new printer ink cartridge up by the top, touching the bottom of a cartridge can damage it. Then remove the tape from the bottom of new printer ink cartridge.
  1. Load the new printer ink cartridge into the cartridge carrier and make sure fasten the latch to hold it down.
  1. Close the printer’s front cover.
